Springs, Bumpers and Big Air: Bounce Like a Pro
Orange pads are not decoration — they're elevators. Here's the physics of every bounce and how to land exactly where you want.
How a spring actually works
A spring doesn't care how fast you fall into it — it launches you upward at a fixed, powerful speed. What it does NOT change is your sideways speed. That's the secret: your horizontal momentum going in is exactly what carries you sideways at the top of the arc. Slow entry, straight-up bounce. Fast entry, long flying arc.
Aim with your approach
Because the spring only adds 'up', you aim a bounce before you touch it. Want to land on a platform to the right? Build rightward speed on a slope first, then hit the pad. Want a vertical elevator to a ledge directly above? Release to stop, then gently creep onto the pad with almost no speed.
The double bounce
Some levels chain two springs: the first bounce carries you to a platform holding a second spring, which throws you even higher. The trick is that your sideways speed stays with you through both bounces — so a small aiming mistake at the bottom becomes a big miss at the top. Enter the first spring at a controlled, medium pace.
Ceilings and walls are friends
Advanced levels put walls near the top of a bounce on purpose. Hitting a wall kills your sideways speed and drops you straight down — which is often exactly what you need to land on a narrow ledge. Bounce, drift, tap the wall, drop, done.
